The main issue with this game is it is 8 years late.

Also there are many others. I tried to play the demo a week after game was released and it looked like shit. I tried it months later in July after I saw Steam updating the whole game like 3 times.

Many criticize the game is woke. Well, yeah, you play for a pretty unlikable character with black skin color. Whatever, she is young and stupid like I was. She is complemented by sarcastic bracelet with English type of humor. I liked that.

There are good parts - sceneries and terrain, movement and fights. They upgraded Noctis fighting style (Final Fantasy XV) with actually stable camera in realtime mode. Version 1.20 also looks relatively good (flower fields). Honestly not good enough to counterweight other aspects.

But at the same time the game is not innovative enough. On the contrary, there is nothing surprising. Colors are washed out. English humor is the same, the main character doesn’t do anything crazy which would be expected by their character, the world is empty, the lore is 3/10 some placeholder medieval stuff. Enemies are boring, they have no character and don’t make sense overall. I don’t remember music or sound effects. The storyline doesn’t speak to me. “Too safe, too soulless”.

I watched further parts on YouTube and the gameplay seems to be just pressing checkpoints and kill enemies.

It’s classic 6/10 or 7/10 game. If you never played anything and looks interesting to you, go for it. If you have played or seen 20 medieval fantasy style action games, consider your options. Maybe I’m just bored seeing another Square Enix FF-like game.
