2019: Fragmentation starts

This is my personal opinion. The main theme of year 2019 will be fragmentation. This exact word won’t be used as there is not enough optimism in it.

Fragmentation already started at the end of 2016 with the end of endless optimism in social sites. And then in 2017 bitcoin insane hype rise and hype fall.

These are movements in a society, but there is also an other factor. Money - Netflix stops paying the ‘Apple tax’ on its $853M in annual iOS revenue, Tencent left out as China approves the release of 80 new video games. And also Steam is on its way to oblivion too with Epic Store.

And this is only a start. Software ecosystems/walled gardens are only a start. But how our life will look when the fragmentation cycle is mature? Frankly I have no idea. I can’t even see it or imagine it. But it doesn’t matter, I can still feel it. That’s enough.
